  • This registration will reserve your seat for one person for the week of Chemistry 2 at UtSTA member rate. 3 semester of UVU Credit needs to be purchased separately, details and link coming.

    Reimbursement of the $50 plus the credit cost comes through UtSTA if you are a teacher under contract by a Public School/District and pass the course (74%) or better
  • This registration will pay for course registration fees for one person for the week of Chemistry 2 at non-contract teacher rate. 3 Credit hours must be purchased separately, details and link coming shortly.

    These fees are not reimbursable due to EIP restrictions.

Chemistry 1 - UVU 3 Credits -  CHEM 5250R - CRN 22862

Description: The course will focus on learning and teaching chemistry.  Introduces you to properties of solutions, reactions rate and mechanisms, reversible reactions, systems at equilibrium (including gaseous, acid-base, and precipitate), nuclear chemistry, and polymer chemistry. This week-long chemistry course will include inquiry style learning with methods to reach and engage students in the study of chemistry.  Taught at Westlake High School.  Don Bastian a master chemistry teacher leads this course.  Come away with new content knowledge, labs completed and with pedagogical skills to use when teaching chemistry.

IMPORTANT COURSE INFORMATION

  • The cost for this course is a $50 refundable registration fee upon 74% or better completion,  if you are a UtSTA Member and a contracted teacher. If you are not a contracted Utah Public School educator, the cost for the course is a nonrefundable $900 fee
  • Participants will also need to Apply for 3 university credits directly to the university. (See next bullet point)  .  Refer to this document if you have any questions about refunds.
  • The teachers who have not taken classes at UVU in the past will first need to apply for admission. 

    1. Start the Application

    Visit the UVU Admissions Application and either create a new account or sign in to an existing one.

    2. Select the Undergraduate Application

    Non-degree seeking program is only offered under the undergraduate application

    3. Select the Correct Student Type

    When prompted to choose your student type, select Non-degree Seeking

    4. Choose Campus Option

    Non-degree seeking students should select “In person on Campus” (you may still enroll in online or hybrid courses after admission).

    5. Select Program of Study

    Select Non-Degree Seeking

    7. Complete Application and Submit

    Carefully review your application, sign electronically, and submit it.

  • Upon successful completion of the course with a C (74%) or higher, UtSTA will reimburse you the $50 registration fee and the  UVU credits fee. You must be a contracted teacher with a public school/district to qualify for reimbursement.
  • If you do not successfully pass the course with a C  (74%) or better you will be required to pay the Balance of $850.

By registering and paying, you agree that if you are not able to attend you will cancel at least 2 weeks before the class starts or your registration fees will be forfeited.
