2022 Fall: SUU Astronomy for Teachers Online Endorsement Course

The cost for this course is $500 for members and $700 for nonmembers plus and additional $63 SUU credit fee that you will pay directly to SUU. 

Our place in space and how we have come to this understanding, are the foundations on which this course is built.  We will explore the tools and laws of nature astronomers use to construct our model and understanding of the cosmos—both its structure and components.  From this informed foundation, we will address the fundamental question of are we alone within this context of our place in space.

This Online Endorsement Course meets the Utah State Science Endorsement Course Requirements for endorsements retiring June 2023:

• Earth Science 2
• Middle Level: (pathway 2)
• Earth Science 1, Chemistry 1, and Physics 1: (Previously Physical Science)

• Earth Science 1
• Physics 2 
• 6-8

This is a content/teaching course.  Emphasis is on best practices used to teach this content in the classroom.

Upon successful completion, the participants will receive 3.0 Southern Utah University Credits.

USBE has instituted a reimbursement program for teachers getting their endorsements.  You qualify to get reimbursed the full $500 if you pass with a C or better and are taking a qualifying course.  Contact your district for details and for verification that you can be reimbursed.  UtSTA, will NOT be reimbursing you.
