2022 FALL: SUU Biochemistry for Teachers Online Endorsement Course

Cost for this course is $500 for members and $700 for nonmembers, plus an additional $63 SUU credit fee, paid directly to SUU.

Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes occurring in living organisms. What types of molecules make up organisms? How these molecules classified and what are their functions? How do organisms obtain and use energy? What metabolic processes occur in the body? This course will address these topics. 

This course emphasizes content and teaching practices that can be used in the classroom.

This Online Endorsement Course meets the Utah State Science Endorsement Course Requirements for:

Endorsements that are retiring June 2023:

• Chemistry 1 (previously Physical Science):  Advanced or Applied Chemistry
• Chemistry 2 (previously Chemistry): Advanced or Applied Chemistry
  

For the new endorsements:

• Chemistry 1: Advanced or Applied Chemistry
• Chemistry 2: Advanced or Applied Chemistry

Upon successful completion, the participants will receive 3.0 Southern Utah University Credits. The $63 fee for the SUU credit will be paid by you directly to SUU.

USBE has instituted a reimbursement program for teachers getting their endorsements.  You qualify to get reimbursed the full $563 if you pass with a C or better and are taking a qualifying course.  Contact your district for details and for verification that you can be reimbursed.  UtSTA, will NOT be reimbursing you.  To find out who your LEA's (district's) contact for this program is, click here.
