Our 8th and 4th Grade Science Scores are Awesome

Recently a press release was sent out from the Utah State Board of Education titled “Utah Eighth Graders Top Nation in Science; Fourth Graders Ranked Eighth”. The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) released the 2015 science scores for 4th and 8th grade showing Utah is at the top. This is a tremendous accomplishment that, I would say, stems from the tireless efforts that you do for your LEAs, teachers, and students. My hope is that this announcement will be an encouragement for you and your teachers to see that the work you do is making a difference in the lives of Utah students. I always say that I work with the best educators and science leaders in the nation, describing your work quality and devotion to students, and now I have strong quantitative evidence to support the claim.

Know that I am grateful that I get to work with you and that I applaud all of your efforts and the efforts of your amazing science educators.
